Jerry Holkins and Mike Krahuluk from Penny-Arcade created Child's Play in 2003 as a way to remove the negative stigma surrounding gamer culture. Every year during the holiday
season, Child's Play partners with hospitals in order to bring some happiness to children across the world.
Child's Play has partnered with Amazon to create wishlists for children at the hospitals. From there, you can directly buy the toys, books, and games and have
them shipped directly to the hospital. Some will be given to the children to keep, others, like consoles, will stay within
the hospitals to be enjoyed by children for years to come. We also accept monetary donations that will be split evenly between
the hospitals at the end of the season.
As of the 2006 season, 31 hospitals in the United States, 3 in Canada, 2 in the Australia, and 1 each in the United Kingdom
and Egypt have joined the cause. As a result, gamers from around the world have raised over 2 million dollars, with over
a million being raised over the last holiday season alone.
Child's Play is a completely voluntary charity. No administrative fees are collected for the organizers. No advertisements
are bought, all coverage and exposure relies entirely upon word of mouth and press coverage. We can truly say that 100% of
all donations go directly to where they're needed most.
The 2007 season is closer than you think. So set aside money now, and get ready to bring smiles to children around the globe.
In November, please visit the Child's Play website to donate.
